Can I reset this computer?
Okay, so recently I found an old hp laptop of my dad's and he let me keep it. I know it's had some problems in the past so I went online and found ways on how to fully factory reset it, I tried numerous tips and tricks but none matched either the menu or the options. What I'm trying to figure out is how to PROPERLY and ACCURATELY factory reset the Pavilion dv5, which is running on Windows 7 home premium.

Short DST check failed
Windows fails to boot so did a restore which ended at at black screen saying "Preparing". Ran system test through F2 and got failure of Short DST Check with Failure ID: U084RA-000860-9XMNXF-60QB03. On Hard Drive 1.
Where can I go from here? I have a back of my data on an external Seagate USB drive.

Can't access email
Dear Forum,
I can't access email option. Do I need to contact Microsoft for this issue?? Everytime I select it and option the preferred account it stays suspended in limbo (you know, the little spiraling wheel of ellipsises just keeps spinning and spinning like there's no tomorrow.) What to do?

windows xp registry issues
My win xp crashed due to registy issues. When I boot up, I get a black screen with a msg that says that "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupted: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM". Per online instructions, I tried to fix the registry using the recovery console and the win xp cd. However, it shows three differentt locations: C:\I386, C:\miniNT, D:\WINDOWS. Three locations are not addressed at any of the sites I accessed - they only show C:\WINDOWS. I don't know where to go from here. Can anyone help? I know that I will have to install a new hard drive but I have important data and photos on that hard drive that I would rather not lose. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Re-activation after Motherboard Replacement
I purchased an HP Envy 800-060 with Windows 8 pre-installed from Amazon in July of 2013. It has been an amazing computer since then, and when the free upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10 rolled out, I immediately did it. Just recently, however, the motherboard failed on the computer. It wouldn't even pass POST, and after much troubleshooting I finally decided on replacing the motherboard. Now that the computer is functional again, I guess the change of the motherboard was enough for the OS to think that it is no longer activated. I was never provided with an OS Activation Key (as Win8 was pre-installed) and Microsoft has suggested I get in touch with HP about finding the original key. I have searched all over the chassis and inside the tower for a valid Windows activation key, to no avail. I tried finding a phone number to call for support, but my product is outside of warranty. I don't need troubleshooting advice or guidance (so I won't be paying the $59.99), all I need is my valid Windows Activation Key based on my product serial number. Does anyone know of the best way of reaching HP with this issue and having it resolved?

1 - What use will this partition be after 30 days from my Windows 10 install. (not going back to windows 7.
2 - Where does Windows 10 install installation files?
3 - What happens if the Partition is deleted?

I just installed windows 7 professional on my hp 700-414 and it is missing a bunch of drivers
I can't connect to internet, my usb isn't detected. I have a dvd-r to put drivers on but idk what drivers. I have tried some that i found on a few posts and they said that I dont meet the requirements. Any help on windows 7 proffesional 64 bit drivers for Envy 700-414 would be greatly appreciated. incorrect warranty information

My desktop is showing my warranty as expired which is clearly not the case as my warranty certificate states 2018
I contacted HP shortly after I bought it, April of last year to tell them it was incorrect at the time, showing only the standard 1 yr warranty.they said they would update it to the proper date 3 yrs hence.
I have spent another 45 minutes on the phone today only to be told again!!! to provide proof of purchase and proof of warranty. is it not enough that I provide the warranty certificate number?
Forgive me but it is not rocket science to enter the warranty details into a database, they say it is not that simple, I beg to differ.
I have just purchased another HP laptop x2 convertible with an additional 1 yr warranty and I am expecting to have to go through all this yet again.
If the email I have sent to prove purchase etc does not resolve the situation where is my next port of call?

How do I enter BIOS in an HP Pavilion 23-b034 Desktop PC?
Hello! I am really looking forward to overclock my RAM speeds and to do that, I must enter the BIOS. I have looked up tutorials but no success. I have an HP Pavilion 23-b034 Desktop PC (All-in-One) and here's my PC specs (according to CPU-Z):
- AMD A6-5400K APU (Overclocked to 4.3 GHz)
- Pegatron Corp. 2AEE Motherboard (Chipset: AMD K15 IMC)
- RAM Slot #1: DDR3-2GB PC3-12800 (800 MHz)
- RAM Slot #2: DDR3-4GB PC3-12800 (800 MHz)
I want to overclock my RAM to 1,000+ MHz but I tried entering the BIOS by:
Start -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Advanced startup (Restart now) -> Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> UEFI Firmware Settings -> Restart -> Computer Setup -> ???
I don't know where to go from here, I have 5 tabs, File, Storage, Security, Power and Advanced. I checked under Advanced and it has Power-On Options, BIOS Power-On, Bus Options and Device Options. I am stuck and I am not really sure if this even IS BIOS. Here's photos of all the tabs and where I am:

Same issue
Im also experiencing the same issue. I bought this laptop(spectre x360 i7) for about half a year, but i have been experiencing the overheating issue everyday. After 3 months of using this laptop, it actually fried the hardware inside due to the overheating problem. I had to send it back to Bestbuy and it took me almost 1 month to get it back! But all they did was to replace my fried hardware inside my computer, nothing more. And im still experiencing the overheating issue now. I tried to buy an external fan to help with the problem, but it doesnt seem to work. Pls help to solve this problem!

My HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart PC WONT TURN ON??

This is my first time on this site and I have been having some trouble with my computer.
FIrst of all, my computer is the HP Envy 23 Touchsmart PC and its roughly around 3-4 years old. For all this time, it has been working fine without any problems, but one day I was playing a game on my computer and it randomly shut down. At first, I thought I accidentally kicked a cord, so I made sure every cord was in their sockets tightly. Thinking it was a loose cord that caused it to shut down, I tried to turn it on again. Unfortunately, there was no luck.
In furthur investigation on my computer, I noticed my power cord was making a small beeping/chirping noise every 2-3 seconds with its green light flashing on and off in sync with the green light. What I found interesting was when I unplugged the power cord from the computer, the green light would actually stay solid without it blinking or making any noise. When i replug it back in, it continues to blink and make the small beeping noise again. As a computer amateur, I am afraid to open my computer up and try to fix the problem myself. And I was also hoping for some solutions here on this site before bringing it into a store to get it fixed.
I also updated my computer to Windows 10 if any of that matters.

Warranty
Help please. HP Support Assistant changed overnight and now shows Warranty Expired and date Dec 2015 when I bought the PC. Expiry date should be 3 December 2016.
Have sent HP Warranty Dispute form and evidence of purchase (twice). No response. Have used Assistant Agent twice and was very pleased with excellent service. Because warranty is out of date, according to HP, contact with them is limited and try as I can I have been unable to get a phone call through to customer service (its always busy!). I have even contacted HP Head Office who gave me the same phone number and a complaints e- mail address which turned out to be in South America! Message on HP Support Assistant received today asks me to continue warranty by paying for 2 year cover. Have paid for this today and hope this will sort situation. Meanwhile who can I e mail at HP in the UK to resolve this?

HP Envy 700-414 Windows 7 network controller driver says I don't meet the minimum requirements to up
I have recently installed Windows 7 on my hp envy 700-414 and it was missing a lot of drivers. A user by the name of banhiem gave me a link to download drivers from hp envy 700-230. After I did that I clicked another link he gave me to install the Realtek network controller. Every time I tried to install the driver it would be tell me that I didn't meet the requirements. The other drivers work fine now except for the network controller. Any steps on how to fix this error would be greatly appreciated.
