hp support assistant messages for windows 8.1 update to users of windows 7

Although I am operating windows 7 home, I received today two messages.

1. check the compatibility with your 8.1 update
2. an old windows pack is using too much space in your disc.

I am wondering why did i receive these messages and if others did as well.
