I want to do a clean install on a 6 year old Compaq-Presario KQ415AA-ABD SR5412DE. It was originally shipped with Vista Home Premium which we upgraded to Vista Ultimate and increased the 2GB ram to 4 GB.
Also, I would like to upgrade the PC to Windows 7 but am having real trouble finding a clean, full version of Win 7.
Microsoft told me that they no longer sell Win 7 and directed me to Amazon. My Amazon searches have revealed that because of fraudulent product keys almost 40% of the reviews are 1-2 stars.
I then recontacted MS and asked if it was possible to verify a product key incase I end up with something like a bulk license which will expire or a completely bogus license etc etc
Microsoft replied...
"We are sorry, it is not possible to verify product keys, you will have to try and install the product. It is buyer beware!"
To bad if your windows license fails after 6, 8,12, 24... months, you will have just wasted a lot of money on it :-(
How’s this for a promotional catchphrase... Microsoft Windows... Buyer Beware.
So, now to why I am posting here:
Is it possible to obtain a Compaq OEM copy of Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate?
