I recently had the HD on my Presario SR5550F replaced (old one crashed). I'm running VISTA. I use a LaCie FW external HD for all my data, which I refer to as my LaCie J; drive. It has 3 partitions, I:, J: and K: I use I; for all my data. J: & K: are empty.Since the internal HD replacement, I noticed in explorer that, in addition to the local drive C: and the local drive J;, there is also listed a "network drive" with the designation j(home drive name) (Z:). It has the same data as my I: partition on the external J: drive. I don't understand why this shows up as a network drive. The problem (I'm assuming it may be related) is that, quite often, when I boot up I do not get my J: drive, and I receive an message stating "Coul not reconnect all network drives". This is evident right away, because my desktop background is on the external data drive. I'm not that system literate and have no idea how to troubleshoot this. The only solution I found is to shut down and then reboot, in which case it connects. Needless to say, this is really getting old. Any suggestions, please?
