Low Disk Space error Mediasmart EX495 server

I just picked up a Mediasmart EX495 server from a friend. We reset the server using the required procedure so it is back to factory settings. I have installed the client software on a XP laptop. There is 6TB across 3 drives for data. Everything was running fine, no errors or alarms. I have server set up to back up my laptop which has a 20Gig HD, but it has not been through a backup sequence yet. I copied approximately 2.1 TB of data from my main PC to the server for storage. I am now getting a low disk space alarm in my tray. On the Home Server console, the Network Indicator is flashing critical and gives me the following message: Not Enough space on some hard drives. If I go to Explorer/My computer it shows me about 5.4TB of free space on the data drive (D). If i right click on the data drive and look at properties, the pie chart shows that there is no free space on the drive, but the numbers say there is 5.4TB of unused space. I cannot clear this message and it is preventing me from adding more data to the drives.

In the Home Server console/server storage tab, I can remove 2 drives and it equalizes the data on the remaining drive showing it still has approx. 50% remaining space. As I 'added' the drives back, it formated each, without any problems. I have turned duplication off on all 'shared folders' without any change in the situation.

So, can someone give me some advice on why it is interpreting the drive space incorrectly?

thanks,

Paul
