screen saver not working on windows 8

I have a HP Envy23 AIO running windows 8.1. The screensaver does not work consistently.

Reading through the forum topics, it is evident that the problem is not too unusual, however, the solutions provided do not seem to work with my computer.

I have attempted to update the video card driver and the mouse driver, but the drivers were both said to be the latest versions available. The problem still remains.

Any help would be appreciated.
