I have this hp desktop that I need to upgrade to Windows 7 because of the pending loss of support for the XP product. I have 10 years of files and digital pictures stored on it and worry about their corruption or loss when upgrading.
Questions:
1-Is a backup created on XP suitable to use if the operating system has been upgraded to 7?
2-Is the memory adequate to run windows 7 or can I add enough?
3-Is this platform strong enough to do this, and any recommendations aside from getting a new computer?
Specs:
3400 AMD Athlon 64 processor, 1.0 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory, 200 GB 7200RPM Ultra DMA hard drive, Lightscribe Double Layer 16X DVD R/RW drive with CD writer capabilities, Integrated SIS Mirage2 Graphics with 128MB shared video memory.
* Processor speed 2.40GHz, 512KB L2 cache, 1600MHz System Bus.
Thanks for any assistance!
