I have a fairly plain Envy 17t-j000 refurb that worked fine through a bios update from 24 to 42, windows 8 to complete updates,16G,4900MQ, Intel 4600 graphics, and it will go normally through the windows store free upgrade and boot once to 8.1. then when I update 8.1, it crashes in an HP diagnostic loop that it never gets out of. I've done this twice with the same results, but the last time I selected only an update for something realtek and intel(sorry). I am ready to try tomorrow for the third time with no updates and I will write down the two offenders and not update. Has anyone else seen such a problem? W8.1 boots once into itself, but as I recall, I always went to updates immediately when presented with 8.1 up at the first opportunity; I never have yet rebooted myself afterwards without doing all or the two mentioned updates(they were listed as important ). In W8 both times I did all the HP assistant recommended updates prior. Product C8U17AAR.
