Error 1005 again

2 years ago, I had a hard disc failure due to a faulty segment, on the this 3 year old machine; I then replaced the hard drive with a 1TB as the original WD make, 2 years ago. Not being an expert,  I didn't repartition the new drive but used it as it came, and had to reload all the software. No problems in operation until the following: -

Recently and since I had repeated screen freezes on Windows startup, at the fluttering 4 section "flag" on Windows Ultimate 7, I finally decided to re-format the hard drive on my Pavilion m9465uk. This then reported the drive as having about 50GB but Windows 7 was loaded successfully apart from the fact that the ID and License weren't recognised and had 30 days to acquire a new OS disk.

I then reformatted the disk and now have Disk 0, Partition 1 as 917.2GB (System), and Disk 0, Partition 2 as 14.3GB (Primary); this appears to be incorrect to my view, since I think the (System) should be around 100GB. I think I can repartition this disk using the free software, however: -

When I used the HP recovery disks for restoring to the original factory condition. The point is passed where it states "Reformatting the windows partition of your hard drive", I don't know whether this also partitions the hard drive, which is not the original btw.

At the point where it states "Re-installing original content", it then displays: -

Error 1005 at 32% progress on the bar.

I don't know if it is possible to restore this PC to the original condition now, in order to regain the original ID and Licence for Windows 7 ID, or just repartition the replacement drive (but to what recommended sizes?), and then buy another Windows disk.

Any help appreciated.

Regards
