Hi, I have an HP Pavilion HPE h8-1170d pc running off Win 7 home premium 64 bit. The current (and original) BIOS that came with the system is AMI version 7.12 dated 12/10/2011.
I noticed that there is an updated version of the BIOS for my PC with a version of 7.12A dated 2012-02-06. (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5155354). It is stated as a critical update.
After downloading this new version, I tried several methods to flash the BIOS without success. I tried booting up in Safe mode with/without network, Safe mode with command prompt, normal window mode (with AV not loaded). In all these, I had logged in as administrator (found from internet how to enable administrator account).
With the Safe modes, the error messages came back as "system BIOS image is invalid or corrupt (252). Please download patch again.
With the normal window mode, the BIOS updating seemed to be done with a message stating update has completed and system required re-start, but I found that the BIOS stayed the same without changing.
I have done the above steps several times, but kept getting the same error message or that BIOS stayed the same.
Have I done some steps wrongly ? Hope someone can advise... thanks !
