I have an HP Desktop PC. Hard drive failed 3 months after warrenty expired. No recovery disk were made, so I purchased Recovery Disks from HP. Replaced HD with same size drive (but SATA II instead of SATA I), ran recovery. Recovery completes without errors. However, when PC is rebooted and starts up, the Admin account does not have full control. It does not allow me to add new accounts, won't access certain apps (like the Store). When accessing certain apps (like the store) the following message appears: "This app can't open ....store can't be opened using the Built-In Administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again".This happens when several HP options are selected. When I go to 'User Accounts and Family Safety' option, THEN .... "Manage Accounts" I can't add new accounts, or do anything with the Admin account.
It appears that this Built-In Admin account does not have full access. How do I correct this so I can add new accounts and regain full conntroll of my PC. By the way, It's WIN 8 and windows has been activated. I have installed most of the Win 8 updates, but am holding on upgrading to Win 8.1 until I can get this resolved. Thanks for all assistance in advance. Although I just purchased the Recovery discs from HP they won't won't provide any answers regarding this issues without a service contract. Shouldn't the restore provide an Admin account with full access?
