Hello, I have a Pavilion Elite HOE 170f and two weeks ago it stopped booting. I ordered the recovery CDs from HP and tried the 'boot fix' option, as well as the 'restore to a previous point' option and both said succeess, but the machine still doesn't boot.
I tried to backup some of my files but the backup tool included only has check boxes for 'videos' 'music', etc., and it doesn't let me select specific directories and other file types (or at least if it does I don't know how).
The only other option is 'wipe HD and install from scratch' which is unacceptable since I want to keep my data. I have seen other recovery CDs (for other versions of windows) which have a 'install on top of existing data' option, but for some reason this recovery CD does not.
Please help, how can I recover my data!
