So, long story short I stupidly fell for one of those phone scams that pretend to be Microsoft and will lock you out of your computer. Rather than restoring my computer to a previous day or time, I accidentally ended up doing a full system restore. I only bought my computer maybe 4-5 months ago now, and when I did it came with Windows 8 already installed on it. I absolutely do not remember entering in a verification code, nor do I have an Office disc case around my house (I was able to find my Office Home and Student 2007 case for Windows 7 though). I got this computer last semester near the end of it because my previous computer's harddrive crashed and the company that "fixed" it didn't actually fix it, and it started going downhill again very quickly. So during my move to a new place at the end of the semester I lost my computer's box. I don't know if that's where the verification code would have been for my Windows programs (I believe I had Windows Office, since I had Word, Excel, PowerPoint, the e-mail, and a few other programs I never really used). I never recieved an e-mail with the verification code either. Now I am unable to open any of my Word or Excel files, have lost my media player and video editor, but I really don't want to pay for all of this stuff a second time because of some stupid hacker from India or wherever that will now be yelled at any time they call again. Is there any way I can recover my verification code?
Additional details:
-NO I was a moron and apparently didn't register my product online. I tried recovering it there and it said I had nothing.
-My computer is from the HP ENVY h8 PC Series, specifically I think the h8-1534 PC (not sure if this is the correct info to give out, I'm just reading the side of my computer)
-I am still under warranty (my computer just did a check, I'm good 'till next year, so I assume I had a 1 year warranty)
Product Number: H2N64AA#ABA
-Sticker on the side of my computer says it comes with: Beats Audio, Connected Photo (gosh I could live without that though!), Connected Music (that too!), and Windows 8
If further information is required I can see if I have it. I was not the one who paid for the computer, my mother purchased it for me, so I don't have the reciept and as I said I lost the box in the move.
