Too small screen image

Hi

I have an HP Pavillion dv5-1070eo and Microsoft Vista.

When I start from the OFF mode the screen is totally black.  I then

close the lid and start  from REST mode, the screen comes up but

the "image" doesnt cover the whole screen.  About 20% of the right

end and about one cm at the bottom is black.

What to do??
