I have an HP dv7-2111us with a blu ray player but it no longer plays them. I have tried the links suggested in this forum but installing them does not work. The HP support page asks for my model number but when I enter it, it displays an image of the laptop and it's model but there are no links or other options to select. When I look in HPs list of items that are no longer supported, my model does not appear. The cyberlnk update page that comes up says the page is no longer available. Please let me know if there are any other options.

no bios listed in support, no support
I just bought this pavilion 550 110. Something happened to the hard drive and bios. Hard drive seems to be blank and wont boot from a windows disk (will boot from ubuntu). I received a box to return it but no return label was included. Starting three days ago i asked for a label to be emailed and to date none has come. there is no bios listed in the support or I would flash it myself. What to do?

Bios doesn't update
My current BIOS is AMI 7.16 10/5/2011. On the driver update page it says that there is 7.16RevA 4/21/2013. I've tried using the HP assistant and down loading are running directly. It appears nothing updates since it never changes to 7.16Rev A or 4/21/2013.
Any ideas?
Also do you know if this udpate is UEFI?

Which BIOS to use for upgrade?
I'm trying to determine if there's a BIOS upgrade available for my system.
I booted into the BIOS, and got the current version: BEE A0.07
When I go to the downloads section for my system (HP Pavilion 550-a1114), it shows me three different BIOS downloads available. They seem to be distinguished by different "ROM Family SSID"s. I see 2835, 2847, and 2852.
How do I know which one is appropriate for my system?

My newly installed SSD storage is not adding up.
It shows 176GB free of 232GB which is 56gb used. When I open the drive and highlight the files and right click properties it shows up as 43.8GB. Where is the additional 12gb being used for? I have the hidden files and folders showing as well.

Start PXE over IPv4
Hello. I doubt anyone would reply but I have a problem if anyone could help me.
When I attempt to start my computer, a error message comes up. ">>Start PXE over IPv4. PXE-E18: Server response timeout. >>Start PXE over IPv6." Then my computer just freezes after that. I've tried looking it up but the keys didn't work for me. I have been trying to get to boot utility . But the farthest i got was just to the computer setup. How do i get to the bios setting or something ? i already put harddrive as first in my boot order. i have already taken the memory and hardware test. By the way, i bought the computer with Windows 8 but updated to Windows 8.1 . Thank you.

Problem with Google chrime
I had Google chrome on my computer and I worked fine and then my computer did it's usually update and now chrome won't work. So I uninstalled it so I could re install it to see if then it would work but I can install it now. Says I can't due to security setting. I have never changed those

hp support assistant stops working in windows 10
Someone gave me this answer before but it still isn't working. I can't get HP Support Assistant to work in Windows 10. I keep trying to redownload something and it keeps saying Fatal error in 17XX and 1603 or something like that. Can't find .msi or remove older version of HP Assistant. Everything has been removed via Add Remove Programs. I am at my wits end. It hasn't worked for months.

Cannot Install Windows 7 on HP Pavilion All-in-one 23-q185hk
Hi All,
My HP Pavilion All-in-one 23-q185hk come with Windows 10 x64, but need to downgrade to Windows 7 for business needs.
Tried to clean install by Windows 7 DVD or downgrade from Windows 10 directly but not success
System will hang and freeze on the Language selection screen of Winsows 7 setup page.
Already disabled secure boot and use legacy boot, TPM disabled etc..
I've tried all combinations but all negative
Hope any expert can help on this new model machine.

Intel Pentium D 915 Processor (2.80-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB)
DDR2 - 1 GB RAM
Hardware is 32 bit.
I wanted to upgrade the OS from XP.
Can you suggest me which OS, can i upgrade to?
Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 or Windows 10?
I could see the drivers only upto Windows Vista.
Is there drivers for other OS versions or can i use the same drivers?
I can upgrade the RAM to 2 or 3 GB RAM (Maximum)
Please suggest any option of OS with drivers.

mirror image for windows 10 pro
Hi i have purchased a 2nd hand laptop, the HP Envy j053ea and it has come with windows 10 pro upgraded from windows 7 , first thing i wanted to do is create a system image onto a usb stick. Unfortunately it wont let me it says "not alloed on removeable devices try to save a single system image in the windows 7 file recovery control panel".....does this mean i can't create a system image of windows 10 pro? any advice would be very much appreciated thank you.

Do I need to update my BIOS?
Hi,
I'm trying to determine if there is a BIOS upgrade available for my system.
I went to the downloads page for software and drivers, and under the BIOS heading, I see three different BIOS updates. They seem to be differentiated by "ROM Family SSID". There are three of them, 2835, 2847, and 2852.
My problem is, I don't know what a "ROM Family SSID" is, so, I have no idea how to determine which of the three files I need? Is this ROM Family SSID relevant? Should I just choose the highest version number?
BTW, my current BIOS is "BEE A0.07".

Cloning Windows to new SSD
Hi, yesterday I purchased a new SSD and installed it in my desktop because I wanted to replace my old HDD. I successfully cloned my primary drive (HDD) which contained my Operating System into the new SSD. Everything is working fine, but I saw a watermark on my wallpaper near the clock (Bottom-right side of the desktop) with the following message:
"Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center Build 9600"
I searched on google and I found that build 9600 has to be something with Windows activation but i don't know why because I already disconnected the HDD and I am not using it in any other computer. Then I went to Control Panel->System and I noticed that in the part that says Windows Activation the following message "Windows is not activated" and in the right side there is a link that says "Activate Windows". I didn't clic the link yet because first I want some suggestions to solve this issue. Can someone help me with this?
