Hi. Win10 loop and occasional freeze. Naturally, when powering down and back up, the loop takes over immediately, so I cannot seem to use my old methods to get to recovery and reset the desktop. Any assistance putting me from power up to RESET would be appreciated.

I just got my new ENVY Laptop- 17t from the HP store. I started setting it up and when I got to where I create a pin and clicked “include letters and symbols” I noticed some blue clickable text pop up: “PIN requirements“. I then clicked the blue text and learned: “Your organization has set up the following PIN requirements”. I know this a mistake, but I don’t know how to fix it.

BIOS Update

the driver page on the HP site says the BIOS is 2015 for my PC. I believe my PC wasn't made until 2016 as the BIOS in my System Info page shows 2016. I am having issues with programs crashing and software support teams are claiming it's the BIOS and that it needs to be updated. Any thoughts or ideas? BTW, my warranty is expired so asking HP is not an option. Thanks!

BIOS failure

Original motherboard and v7.16 BIOS which is AMI. Board labelled AMI Aptio DT 2006 AD037971. Only system updates have been 8 GB RAM and replacement HDD. Attempted to install ASUS GT710-SL-2GD5 graphics card in 16x PCI slot. It installed, and worked after a fashion with improved playing of video. However, when card installed it became impossible to open BIOS with F2 or F10. It also took a long tome to boot into Windows. I removed the card and decided to try what now seems an unwise plan. The BIOS setup became accessible again and I disabled the PCI 16x slot with a view to enabling/ disabling the ASUS card without physically taking it in and out, so that I could try to make it work properly. The machine then refused to boot beyond the first page which identifies the 8 GB RAM. I have tried everything to persuade the system to start, with and without the ASUS card in place. It will display SETUP on pressing F10 at startup, but won't go any farther. I have tried the forum for BIOS failure routines, placing the BIOS v7.16 files on a USB, pressing Windows-B and everything else I can think of. I even tried an ancient page from this support site which referred to renaming the *****.ROM file on the USB to HPBIOS.ROM and trying to boot with Ctrl-Home - this produced no effect at all. This is not surprising as that page stipulates putting that file on a boot floppy, and this board has no floppy controller! So what I am trying to do is revert to the BIOS settings in which the x16 slot is NOT disabled- is the system waiting for something from the ASUS card which it now can't receive because I disabled the slot? Is there anyone there with experience of these old motherboards? Thanks

Windows 10 automatic update now windows only starts in safe mode

I have an HP Envy 750-267 running windows 10 64 bit os build 19041.329 June 9th.  A couple days ago a message popped up saying windows needs to restart to finish the update. (not sure what update since I didn't update anything. I'm assuming it was an automatic update from microsoft windows) I selected restart later at like 3am.  The next morning my windows desktop screen was up with error message saying not enough memory to finish and the screen was flickering bad.  So I restart, it gets all the way to my desktop in windows but it flickers out of control. No mention about low memory now. I can start in safe mode (in safe mode now writing this) I can get to settings but the update tab says try again later so I cant see what was the last update and roll it back.  I'm stuck and need help to fix this or get that last update removed?  Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I have just upgraded an HP Omni120-1000z desktop computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and the installation did not activate.

I have done this on several machines in the recent past and had no problem, so I'm not sure why it didn't work this time but if someone has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate them.

Need recovery partition software for HP Pavilion p6754y Desktop PC

Hi there,

My issue involves a little bit of backstory. I got this computer from a friend, and they had an issue where no matter what, the only way they could access the C:\ drive (or run programs as an Administrator) was to either boot into Safe Mode or log in as the Administrator account. After trying various things to no avail, I upgraded the computer to Windows 10 via the Administrator account (to no avail) and then finally did a clean installation of Windows 10. Here's the issue that I'm having.

In doing this, the HP Recovery partition was wiped out (except for one folder pertaining to Microsoft Security Essentials). I had wanted to go into the Recovery Partition to reinstall the factory software (HP software mainly), but since it's gone, I can't do that. And there is no software available for Windows 10 for this PC.

What I'm looking for is either a copy of the recovery partition, something that will recreate that partition, or the bundled software that comes in the partition. Normally, I would be removing this software, but my friend uses it. So, I need to put it back on.

Thanks, and have a great evening. 🙂
Patrick.
